Rules and Other Information
 
 

Turkey Foot Long Rifles Range Rules 
1.         The TFL Range is open ½ hour after sunrise until ½ hour before sunset.  This is not dawn to dusk; it is sunrise to sunset as published in the newspaper.  An exception is Sundays when the range opens at 11:00 AM. 
2.         Members must open the gate and drive into the range to use it.  No parking on the road and going through the fence. 
3.         Members must have their Membership Card with them while on the range, with the exception of a scheduled club event. 
4.         The TFL Range is for registered members only.  Only two shooting guests, under the supervision of a member, shall be allowed on the range at any time – with the exception of a scheduled Club event. 
5.         Only Pre 1900 firearms or replicas, .22 caliber Rimfire firearms, shotguns, and approved SASS Cowboy Calibers are allowed to be used on the TFL Range. 
6.         Black Powder or a Black Powder Substitute in a proper granulation for your firearm may be used.  Smokeless Powders are allowed when loaded to the equivalent of Black Powder loads. 
7.         Only Lead Projectiles, round ball or cast bullet, may be used. 
8.         TFL approved targets include Paper, Clay, Wood, or Metal Silhouettes. 
9.         Hearing and Eye Protection is MANDATORY on the firing line. 
10.      Maintain Muzzle Control – shoot only in the direction of the back stop; remember that we have neighbors in every direction. 
11.      No smoking in the loading and shooting area. 
12.      No alcohol  may be consumed while participating in any shooting event. 
13.      Pick up your debris – targets, patches, shell casings, and trash. 
 

Turkey Foot Long Rifles Aggregate Shoot Rules 

1.         All weapons are to remain unprimed (no percussion cap on or no powder in the flash pan) or unloaded (for cased ammo) until on the firing line with the weapon pointed down range. 
2.         Four shoots are required to qualify for a seasonal award plaque.  If you shoot more than four shoots, your best four will be your qualifying scores for the season. 
3.         Cost is $3.00 per monthly shoot, plus 50cents per target. 
4.         Sunday shoots start at Noon; Wednesday makeup shoots start at 5:00 PM. 
5.         Aggregate shooters can shoot one month ahead. 
6.         Range Officer of the Day responsibilities: 
 • No shooting while on duty as Range Officer for the day, but can shoot on the makeup day if not designated Range Officer again. 
 • Can open and close the range for safety reasons during the course of the shoot. 
 • Can clarify shots during the shoot; Chief Range Officer is responsible for scores. 
 • A Range Officer’s best score from the season is doubled for performing as an RO for a monthly Aggregate Shoot and is included in qualifying for a Seasonal Award. 

Turkey Foot Long Rifles Cowboy .22’s Rules  
1.         Shoots begin at 5:00 PM.  If you are late you may join in at the stage being shot, and after everyone has completed the last station, you can make up the stages you missed. 
2.         Cost is $3.00 per shooter per shoot. 
3.         The shoots require one .22 rifle that is either lever or pump action and one .22 revolver that must be fired in single action. 
4.         Five stages will be shot with each stage having 10 rifle and 5 pistol shots.  More rounds may be required at the discretion of the Range Officer and if a reload(s) is required for a given stage. 
5.         All firearms must remain pointed down range (170o rule). 
6.         After a firearm is used, the action must be left open. 
7.         All firearms must be unloaded before leaving the stage. 
8.         Six shoots will be required to qualify for an award.  Your best 6 shoots, based on your lowest times will be used to determine your position.  Your rank points for those six shoots will be used as a tie breaker if necessary.
