| Home-made Buffalo Gun
45-70 caliber
33-1/2in barrel, 1-18 twist
Lyman front globe sight with level
Pedersoli mid range rear sight.
1-1/2 inch group at 200 yds.
I was pretty happy with this 3-shot group
I shot at 200 yds. The load was a 535 grain lead bullet over 65 grains
of GOEX Cartridge Powder.
I copied the look of the Frank Wesson tip-up
rifle (see below) patented Oct, 25, 1859 & Nov. 11, 1862. It
is a two-trigger design with the front trigger serving as the breach lock
release. I purchased a heavy octagon barrel blank from Brownels and built
the rest from scratch.
