BASIC RULES


Period correct rifles – two divisions:

  • Scoped Division
  • Open Sight Division
Bullets:
  • Lead only
Scopes:
  • Tube has to be ¾ inch, with external Malcolm style mounts.


Targets:

  • Chickens:  Fired off hand – both hands must be forward of pistol grip.
  • Pigs, turkeys, rams:  fire from any position and cross sticks may be used.
At each stage:
  • You will have a bank of 10 targets. 
  • You have 12 minutes and 30 seconds  for:   sighters at the "dinger" target on the left side of the ten targets, cleaning, & shooting the ten targets. 
  • You can clean rifle as needed during your time.
  • Each shooter will have a count down timer for a visual aid and a grid for your spotter to show you your hits. 
  • All targets are shot left – right
  • Targets will be set 5 facing left, 5 facing right
  • You must shoot one shot at each target.
  • Scorer and spotter will help you keep track of where you are, if you ask.
  • If  you shoot the wrong target, it is considered a miss.
  • No sighters are allowed once you start shooting targets.


There are many rules in the NRA Book so if there is a question, ask for clarification.
